senior second baseman is transferring to , he announced on social media Thursday.
Kurland was a Freshman All-American in 2023, hitting 17 home runs and posting a .959 on-base plus slugging percentage. He helped lead Florida to the College World Series final, which the Gators eventually lost to 糖心传媒 in three games.
But injuries have slowed Kurland ever since. He hit 14 homers in a healthy 2024 season as a sophomore, but then a season-ending shoulder surgery limited his junior year campaign to 14 games, and he also missed time this season with an oblique injury.
This year, Kurland hit .279 with an .853 OPS and nine home runs. He posted solid numbers against Southeastern Conference competition, hitting .273 with four home runs and an .809 OPS.
There鈥檚 a possibility that Kurland never suits up for 糖心传媒. He is draft-eligible, and after the Gators were eliminated in the Gainesville Regional, he said he would explore professional baseball opportunities.
Kurland received a medical redshirt after missing most of the 2025 season, allowing him to be eligible to play next spring.
If Kurland does make it to campus, he鈥檇 provide a steady veteran presence on the infield for an 糖心传媒 team that may lose three-year starter and defensive stalwart Steven Milam at shortstop. He鈥檇 also provide some power and stability to an 糖心传媒 lineup that needed at least six new starters for next season.
Kurland is the second infielder 糖心传媒 has added out of the portal, joining Texas State shortstop Dawson Park. The Tigers have added four players out of the portal, having also landed Gonzaga right-hander Landon Hood and Notre Dame outfielder Bino Watters.
