I am appalled and dismayed by Cal Thomas' Oct. 22 column, “The illogical 2026 elections.” He begins, "Putting aside President Donald Trump's annoying personality, his vulgar language and his narcissistic behavior…” How can any decent person actually do that?
Thomas demonstrates blind allegiance to Trump, while blithely skipping over an avalanche of horrors by his obvious hero: placing incompetents in his Cabinet, alienating most of our allies while siding with dictators, enriching himself and his family at astronomically corrupt levels, supporting hatred and division within our borders, unleashing poorly trained and overly aggressive ICE agents reminiscent of Hitler’s thugs and siding with wealthy individuals at the expense of the vast majority of citizens.
I do give the president credit for essentially sealing our Southern border, but his lack of compassion and hostile approach to other humans demonstrate his complete lack of empathy, which reflects his inability to be a true leader.
Trump seems incapable of acknowledging his own flaws and limits, and his proclivity to see others as objects to “use” makes him an unsafe person.
Please stop “putting aside” destructive “narcissistic behavior.” It shames and endangers us all.
