Hours after an 18-wheeler crash at Dalrymple Drive early Wednesday morning, Interstate 10 west remains closed at Acadian Thruway, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development said.
Drivers are advised to travel on Airline Highway, instead, the DOTD said at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
I-10 westbound traffic is also being diverted to Dalrymple, then to Lori Burgess Avenue, where drivers can re-enter the interstate, Baton Rouge Police said.
Congestion on I-10 west is at the I-10/I-12 split, DOTD said.
The two left lanes of I-10 east are closed, as well, at Dalrymple, due to the crash.
Interstate 12 west traffic has also been affected, with congestion back to Airline Highway, the agency said.
A third highway closure is on I-110 south, which is closed at Government Street due to the crash. Congestion is backed up to Mohican Street, DOTD said.
The interstate closures caused traffic delays on major Baton Rouge streets, as 18-wheelers were forced off of the highway.
The crash happened around 4 a.m.
This is a developing story.
