Winning entries in the visual art category of the 2026 George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts' Art and Songwriting Contest, "Unveiling the Bayou: Light and Shadow," is on exhibit in the Paula G. Manship Gallery in the Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St.

The contest challenged student artists statewide to draw inspiration from the bayous, using light, shadow and contrast to express themselves through original works of art and song.

More than 300 Louisiana students entered, and 13 young artists and songwriters were chosen to share in $25,000 in college scholarships. The 10 artists featured in this show represent Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Dulac, West Monroe and Shreveport. The winning songwriters are from New Orleans, Gonzales and Monroe. Though the songwriters aren't featured in the exhibit, their songs can be accessed on the foundation's website at .

The gallery is located at the Lafayette Street entrance to the Shaw Center. Hours are  9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday,  9 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturay and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
