A large residential development with some commercial property is being planned for the area along Johnston Street near E Broussard Road.
The Lafayette city zoning commission will consider a request to rezone property in the 6800 block of Johnston Street for a project that will include 237 lots for single family homes and 250 feet of frontage for commercial development.
The meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
The applicant, Stillwater Development, is asking to 54-acre property adjacent to Team Management & Consulting offices and Keeneland Lane to be rezoned from agricultural to commercial heavy for the frontage and residential single-family for the rest, .
Lafayette Consolidated Government’s planning department is recommending commissioners OK the development, which is on the southwestern edge of Lafayette city limits.
It follows other similar residential developments in the area, including Delmar Estates, Charleston Village and River Green Subdivision.
No one has called for or against the proposal, documents show.
Editor's note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly listed the number of homes in the development. It has been corrected.
