This year’s Festival International was a hard one to top. The crowds were great. The music was excellent. And the weather cooperated, at least for the weekend of the festival, bringing lots of sunshine to the party on Saturday and Sunday.
Louisiana weather does not always play nice, as most of us know. When that happens, FIL has a plan. That includes the very generous support of the Rain Angels. For those who are not familiar, the Rain Angels Circle was founded when rain threatened the financial stability of Festival. The Rain Angels ensure that, rain or shine, Festival International continues to be successful and operate without charging admission to Festival goers.
The Rain Angel group includes donors and businesses around Acadiana. Every year, we pay a visit to those wonderful folks who gather at the Rain Angel Tent. We caught up with original Festival founders Herman Mire, Lynn Bertuccini, and Sally Herpin enjoying the show. We also shared a moment with Michael Doumit, who was making sure no one went hungry throughout the day.
Congratulations to all of those who worked so hard to make this one-of-a-kind event such a success. Until next year, Bon Festival, everyone!
